Your Step-by-Step Guide
Getting paid for clinical trials is straightforward if you know where to look and what to expect. Here's exactly how to go from searching to getting compensated.
Step 1: Find Eligible Trials
Use GetPaidClinicalTrials to search by your health condition (or "healthy volunteer" if you're healthy) and ZIP code. Each listing shows the estimated compensation range, eligibility requirements, and study details.
Step 2: Review Eligibility
Check the age range, gender requirements, and health condition criteria for each trial. Read the eligibility criteria carefully — common factors include age, BMI, medication use, and medical history.
Step 3: Contact the Study Team
Click "Inquire / Enroll" to reach the research team by email or phone. They'll ask initial screening questions to see if you might qualify.
Step 4: Complete Screening
If you pass the initial phone screen, you'll visit the research site for medical screening. This usually includes a physical exam, blood tests, and review of your medical history. Screening visits are typically compensated.
Step 5: Enroll and Participate
Sign the informed consent form, begin the study protocol, and attend all scheduled visits. Keep in mind you can withdraw at any time without penalty.
Step 6: Get Paid
Payment methods vary: check, direct deposit, prepaid card, or ClinicalCard. Some studies pay per visit, others pay at completion. Ask about the payment schedule before enrolling.
Pro Tips
- Apply to multiple trials simultaneously to increase your chances
- Keep your schedule flexible — most trials require visits during business hours
- Build a relationship with research sites; they'll contact you about future studies
- Phase 1 trials pay the most but require the most time commitment
